Avoid perceived and/or actual conflicts of interest, and where such may arise to advise the parties and/or seek confirmation from the Institute of Party Wall surveyors committee as to correct protocol.

Operate with transparency honesty and respect to all parties and appointed Surveyors in accordance with the statutory appointment.

Discharge our statutory duties effectively and professionally.

Continuous Professional Development:

We shall:

Maintain and provide when requested a minimum of 2 hours CPD per annum.

Undertake to broaden our knowledge, experiences, competencies and to share such knowledge and awareness with other Members of the Institute of Party Wall Surveyors.

Only undertake the statutory roles where within our competency and skill set.

Responsibility:

As Members of the Institute of Party Wall Surveyors we undertake to act responsibly in dealing with the services and advice that we provide to our appointing Owners and/or any Third Party and to observe our obligations and duties with specific inference upon:

  1. All individuals and/or bodies Corporate to maintain on an annual basis appropriate liability insurance
  2. Notify the Institution of Party Wall Surveyors within 21 days if any of the following occurs:
    a) Declare any applications for bankruptcy or where a disqualification as a company Director arises.

    b) Bring to the attention of the Institute of Party Wall surveyors any perceived or actual violation of the Institute of Party Wall Surveyors code of conduct caused by another member.

    c) Cooperate with the Institution of Party Wall Surveyors where such reasonable information is questioned to facilitate any investigation into the conduct of the member and/or members.

We are Party Wall Surveyors. We want to assure you that we take your privacy extremely seriously and we only process your personal data where it is necessary to do so.

In order for us to be able to comply with current legislation and to perform our professional duties as Party Wall Surveyors, we will need to process and keep on record some of your personal data, such as your name and address (and your phone  number and/or email address).

This information may be held in digital form on a computer,

We will also need to retain that information in case of any potential complaints or legal proceedings and for taxation purposes.

We will therefore need to retain your information for a period of six years after the end of our dealings with you. The basis for processing your personal data is that it is necessary for us to do so in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into, and the legal fulfilment of a contract, to you as a Party Wall Surveyors.

Where a dispute arises between you and your neighbour(s) or is deemed to arise, and we are appointed or selected to act as Surveyors, under section 10 of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996, the Act grants legal authority to us to settle the dispute, and imposes legal obligations on  us to do so, therefore it may become necessary for us to  process your personal data in order to do so.

We will not pass on your personal data to third parties other than where this is necessary, for instance with any other Surveyors who are appointed under Section 10 of “the Act”.

We assure you that we would never sell your personal data and we will keep your details safe and secure.

You have the right to request access to your personal data, or to object to the processing of it, or to have it rectified, amended, restrict the using of it or have it removed.
